Based on a true story, Stronger tells the story Jeff Bauman (played by Jake Gyllenhaal), a survivor of the Boston bombings, which occurred in 2013. This film shows the before and after events that changed Jeff’s life forever. After losing both legs from the blast, Jeff must learn to live and walk again while also dealing with the strong media attention. Jeff also struggles to understand how a man in his condition could ever be an example of hope and courage for those around him and to the world.
For those who know me well, you will know I am a huge Jack Gyellenhall fan! And Jake Gyllenhaal is always a fantastic actor, but note this: Stronger is without a doubt Jake Gyellenhaal’s greatest performance in his career.
Stronger is a film that promises to pull your emotions back and forth as each scene delivers different moods and the tone can change unexpectedly. Even though this film is based on a true story, Stronger never feels too predictable when it comes to Jeff’s actions or even the actions that occur with his love interest or his family members around him.
Overall it’s no surprise to say Jake Gyllenhaal has once again gone to another level with his performance in this film. His work in Stronger only leaves me speaking praise and giving a standing applause. This is also one of the greatest drama films I have seen in quite some time. The film will also bring out unexpected emotions and feelings from its audience. For me personally, this even film challenged me in my own life and I feel many others who watch this will feel the same. Stronger comes highly recommend.
